Odd bird
Is it a mutant blackbird? It was in the garden yesterday and had a white feather in its tail and a black beak, whereas blackbirds have a golden beak. Any suggestions?
It could be a juvenile (first year) male blackbird. Their beak doesn't turn yellow until their second year. White feathers do sometimes appear on blackbirds.

Some of the feathers look blue, or is it just my eyesight?
It's your eyesight! They were black. I'll post another photo.
Mum and I are just peering at the photos now and we don't think it's a blackbird. We'll have a think....
It might be a 'foreign blow-in', Mum says.

I didn't know about the beaks of juveniles. I'm sure that's what it is. Thank you, Jacula.
