I think this is a young herring gull but any help with identification would be gratefully received. Although gulls frequently fly over the garden, I have never seen one land before due to the amount of space they need to take off again. This one made it though - yet left without taking a piece of bread. Perhaps it preferred wholemeal!

I don't think it is - the bill doesn't look mean enough. Was it very big? Could be a common gull or kittiwake.
I wouldn't be 100% sure. Then there's that brownish head - young herring gulls are brown so it could be. Sorry - no help at all am I?
